UP Singapore Open Data Hackathon (http://www.upsingapore.com/up-weekend/) is Coming Up June 22-24, I would like to invite you all to attend.

So what's the Open Data Hackathon all about?  Simply put the goal is to take government data (with a few interesting private data sets that we have been allowed access to) and analyze it, mash it up--whatever you can dream up doing with it--and create apps (web or mobile) that make the country smarter, healthier, more efficient, make life better, and government more open.

It's the first of it's kind experiment, with the full support of the Singapore government, to show how community innovators can use open government data to make Singapore a better place.

It should be a fun time for anybody that has a passion for hacking and an interest in making Singapore a better place.

Pre-hackathon workshops and data trainings (open to all participants and community members at large; more details and how to register for the free trainings can be found at: http://www.upsingapore.com/big-data-training/)

Data Workshop: Wednesday, June 13th, 6pm at Newton Circus, 138 Cecil Street.  Help us organize and document data sets so developers can get working faster.  Get early access to the data!  See the data sets at http://www.upsingapore.com/datawiki/doku.php and at http://www.data.gov.sg

AWS Overview: EC2 and S3 plus Intro to Elastic Map Reduce, Thursday June 14th, 1-5pm:

R Training, A One-Day Intensive Course on the R PRogramming Language: : Monday June 18th

Hackathon Agenda:

Friday evening: Kickoff, pitch ideas, form teams, create action plan.

Saturday & Sunday: All day hackathon to work out solutions to urban problems and build a prototype.

Sunday afternoon: Prototype demos and lessons learned.

Prototypes with a viable business model will also be invited to pitch for up to S$250,000 in seed funding and support from NC Venture Partners Incubator.

Register for the event at http://upweekend-eorg.eventbrite.com/  If you want food catered, the cost is $60 for the weekend.  If you are a developer and want to find your own food, you can use the code "upsgfree" for free registration--though we don't mind you paying the $10 buck to help defray costs...

So check out the website for full details at http://www.upsingapore.com/up-weekend/
