I just wanted to say that I have been searching for months for a
simple web-based program (so I can share it with my husband and kids
during the day) to use as an ongoing grocery list. For my family of
6, I HAVE to have a way to easily add items, and then just as easily
get rid of them, as well as access them from my iPhone while at the
grocery store. I tried RTM, but it's way too high-maintenance for my
needs. Also, I have to click more than once to cross an item off my
list. That was the main problem with most of the programs I tried
(and I have tried no less than a dozen). I wanted something that was
as simple as crossing an item off a written grocery list with a pen.
Having made a simple grocery list on SimpleGTD and pulled it up on my
iPhone, I have to say that I LOVE it. I think I have finally found
what I'm looking for! I tried the mobile link (simplegtd.com/mob) but
I like the regular link better on my iPhone, because I can have all of
my lists displayed at once. I have currently set contexts for
different product categories (Meat/Produce/Baked Goods/Dairy, etc.)
which makes it VERY easy to see, at a glance, where I am with my
shopping. I believe it will also cut down on zig zagging across the
grocery store several times because I've realized that I forgot an
item that was written at the bottom of my list. Using my iPhone to
add items to the list while at the grocery store is a breeze. I don't
really need the ability to e-mail an item to my list, because if I can
e-mail, I can just as easily visit the website and add it to the
list. I also don't really need to be able to text items to my list,
for the same reason. Nor do I need a way to e-mail the list to
myself. I shouldn't normally need to print the list, but my husband
might (should he decide to be sweet and go to the store for me) and
the printed page is WONDERFUL, particularly separated by product
category. Nicely done! What would also be nice would be an RSS feed
so that I can add my list to my iGoogle home page. Then it would be
even easier to get to. Also, add my vote for having recurring items.
Like adding milk to the list every 5 days, etc. With those changes, I
would have to say that I would call it the PERFECT online grocery list
application (for me, anyway!) Keep up the great work. I'm glad to
see discussions are active.
