1) How do I prevent anonymous users from accessing Simple Groupware?
Now, if I type the address pointing the folder where I have SG
installed, it goes in as an anonymous user. The anonymous user can see
our files etc. What I have to change so that only the login screen
appears?
2) We need to exchange and comment lots of pdf-files, Somewhere in the
features there was that pdf preview is available. I uploaded a pdf
file, but it says Cannot create preview for pdf.
How can I change that?
3) There are many modules we don't need at the moment. How can I make
them inactive to all users?
Simple Groupware looks very good although. I think there is a certain
level of learning in how to use it. Once you get familiar with the
system, I think this would suit fine to our organization's needs. So
thanks a lot!
1) To disable anonymous access, select the Workspace/System folder
and click "change setup settings" in the panel to the right. Scroll
down to "enable anonymous access", remove the tick, scroll to the
bottom of the page and click Save.
2) I have never had this error. Is it possible that your PDFs contain
scanned page images but no text? The reviewer could always download
the PDF, view it locally and type the review into SG. Note that the
preview in SG shows only the text content of the PDF but not the page
layout or images.
3) Simply delete the folders ("modules") that you don't want.
Alternatively, if you remove the permissions for a folder, then only
admin can see it. The documentation explains how to direct users to a
particular folder automatically when they log in:
>> After the login, users get redirected to their home directory under "Workspace / Personal folders". To change the redirection, simply set a new folder id under "Workspace / Organization / Users -> Tab: Account -> Field: Home folder id". <<
Note that each folder is just an instance of a particular type of
module. When you create a new folder, you also select the module that
it uses according to the type of folder you require.

2) To convert PDFs to text, you need to install xpdf-utils on your
system, see:

I encoutered another problem concerning Spreadsheets. When I start
editing a new sheet, there is a html 500 error in the data area. I
think there might be some problem with dir/file permission on the
server side. In general, directories have permission 755 and files
have 644. Is this enough? Does the Spreadsheet use some cgi or .pl
files?
If I delete a folder, how can I get it back??
When a folder is deleted, two things happen:
1. it is moved to Workspace/System/Trash
2. all access rights for the folder (and its subfolders) are removed
To retrieve the folder, log in as admin and move it from the trash
folder to the new location (see below for instructions).
To change the access rights for the folder, select the folder then
select "Folder > Rights edit" in the top menu bar and set the access
rights as required. If there are subfolders then select "Folder >
Apply rights to subfolders" in the top menu bar.

HOW TO COPY/MOVE A FOLDER
1. Select the folder to copy/move
2. "Folder > Copy/Cut" in the top menu bar
3. Select the destination folder
4. "Folder > Paste" in the top menu bar
