I am attempting to place a client into the "Testing" track. Am I correct in assuming that I need create a new client installer dmg with the proper settings and then install that on the client? I tried this, but the /etc/simian/settings.cfg file does not get overwritten. I also tried simply modifying the /etc/simian/settings.cfg file directly, but that has not produced the intended effect (yet). Is there a command I can run on the client that will tell it to check in with the Simian server and update the track it is on? Can I assign a track to a client from the Simian server?

Thank You.

Shane,

There is no built in way to manage which track clients are on. Given
that we use Puppet for configuration management at Google, we never
added such management into the Simian server.

You shouldn't have to deploy a new Simian client to change tracks,
though. Simply change /etc/simian/settings.cfg "simiantrack" value
from "stable" to "testing" by hand editing the file or pushing a
package which edits or replaces it for you.
