Is there anyone in the development community who would be willing to help with the ongoing maintenance and development of the Windows installer?

Almost everyone at the SilverStripe offices are running Mac/Linux, which makes maintenance of it difficult.
Additionally, we really need to focus our development resources on the SilverStripe application itself, rather than the installer.

If we're unable to find a bit of extra help with this part of the system, we may need to look at other options, such as providing a link to XAMPP / WAMPServer on our download page. :-S

Hi Sam

I found downloading the WAMP Server more useful than using the Windows Installer.  Personally, I would say:  just ditch it and link to the WAMP Server Application (with perhaps some hints on settings).

Cheers

Nicolaas

I agree with Nicolaas.. I don't know how the download stats look like but I think that the major part of the "potential" SilverStripe users have already installed a Webserver on their system. Some configuration and setup documents would be enough.

I don't know how the download stats look like

Downloads are roughly one third Windows .exe, two thirds .tar.gz installer. That ratio has been fairly consistent for the past 18 months, when we made our first beta release.

A lot of our users run Windows; this would account for the download
volume. I'm sure that a lot of people just click the link that
matches their operating system. The most important thing is that we
have a clear, efficient installation process for all our users.
