The meeting was taking place at the nice&lofty offices of dp-media.de -
thanks for hosting the event, guys! The half a dozen people present
varied from "never heard of it" to "been using it for over a year now".
We got a a lot of positive feedback for the presentation of our product
on silverstripe.com - the benefits of having a company with marketing
capacities behind an opensourced project, I guess.
The participants are using SilverStripe in both freelancing and agency
contexts,
even trying to get it into a Danish university as study-material!
The guys from dp-media.de did a detailed performance analysis of
SilverStripe a while ago, and had a lot of great input for static
caching
and ideas for improvements - speeding up the backend was a largely
discussed topic.
It was interesting to learn that an agency in Hamburg already deployed
a SilverStripe installation in six languages - although they also
mentioned
the widely discussed bugs in the i18n components - we hear you!
We've looked at some new features of the upcoming 2.3 release,
especially how ModelAdmin can help with applications which are
not strictly CMS-centric.
There was interest for starting a german community site,
I'd expect more to be announced on the SilverStripe forum soon!
