Godd Morning,

We're seeking input from the cycling community for the upcoming SRAM Tour of the Gila, April 27 - May 1, 2011.  We are considering hiring a musical group to play live during the downtown criterium.  Question is what type of music would you like to hear?  We'd like an idea of what would go over well.  Appreciate all the responses we can get.

Thanks

Jack Brennan

I'm in a band that plays blues/rock mix with some popular.  We're playing at Isaac's on the 31st if anyone wants to hear us and cast a vote.

Thanks,
Jake

Led Zepplin or Dave Matthews would be cool.  If they're not available, then Cake would be cool.

I'm votin' Mariachis; for the regional flavor. There's a large pool of Mariachi talent in Deming/Las Cruces. Several Mariachi units from that area played at WNMU early in the Fall, and were excellent. You've got several hours of Criterium, so you may want to mix it up.

Cake would be cool if you could get them.

@ Jack: I'm still going to get Bill Murray to MC the SPC some day.

I've always thought Red Hot Chile Peppers would sound good in Silver
City, but we need more women to come here, so consider John Mayer.

Glad to see the serious reflection applied by local cyclists on the question you posed. Many interesting suggestions- Tool? "I got your Tool; right here!"

Hi, Jack - this is Ted - I'm here escaped from Maine for who knows how long. I'd like to have a Blues Band and maybe some other local country talent.

How about a ska/reggae band - like Judge Roughneck from Denver?  They played the Buff a few years back and had the whole place jumping all night.  We've got one of their CD's if you want to listen.  Check out www.judgeroughneck.com.  Given the mix of spectators for the crit content might have to be discussed.

I just want to let the Cat 4, 5 racers know that there are 36 riders now entered in the 2011 SRAM Tour of the Gila Men 4, 5 race.  I expect the field to close in a few weeks.  So if you are interested in racing this year's race, please do get your entry in soon.

Thank you,

Jack
