have problems watching showmedo videos using the seamonkey browser (the
former mozilla suite).

If i click on a showmedo video, i can only see an empty grey window.
I can watch youtube videos using seamonkey.

tested on ubuntu9.04 and Puppylinux.

Will test again with newest version of seamonkey (coming out soon).

Anyone got Seamonkey to display showmedo videos ?

greetings,
-Horst

Hi Horst -

It's almost impossible to keep track of all the browser/OS/flash configurations out there. Sometimes I'm just grateful to get Firefox/IE7 and the webkits playing ball. I'll have a look at sea-monkey if there's time. The good news is that I'm moving the site (assuming everything works this weekend) to the open-source flowplayer (http://flowplayer.org/index.html) flv-player. It looks much better designed than the current one and the API is jquery-like, which is very nice. Plus, the big bonus is that is should allow authors to create on-video splash-screens, messages, contact-details and the like. All very cool in theory. Plus adding annotated cue-points to the videos looks very simple.

So I'll leave off testing till then. The last time I changed a library (the modal-windows), many bugs fell out of the system.

btw - as I mentioned, the multi-author thing should be fixed now. There's a new system in place - just ping me when you need the details. Be keen to try it out.

cheers,
Kyran

Hi Kyran,

no problem there, dennis wrote that he can view the videos with the
newer version of seamonkey so i guess the problem was that i used some
older version of seamonkey.

Why use flash then it is a proprietary format and protocal, I have been working on RTMPE which is one of the version of flash to create a client in python. Also any 'security' you gain is well not at all secure...

See these links
