March Poetry at Broad Street Books
Tuesday, March 1st at 7:00pm
Featuring Andrea Barton!
On the first Tuesday of every month, Broad Street Books hosts a
featured poet followed by an open mic starting at 7:00pm. Our featured
poet for March 1st is Andrea Barton!
Andrea Barton
is a mother, a daughter, a poet and a teacher, in that order. At RHAM
High School, in Hebron, CT, she teaches American Lit to Juniors, and
Creative Writing and Public Speaking to upperclassmen. She runs a
monthly, first Monday poetry series called GotPoetry Live II in
Willimantic, Connecticut, where she hosts feature poets from all over
the east coast. This series is a sister venue to the original
GotPoetry Live in Providence, RI. Andrea’s work was most recently
published in The Labletter, The Cleave, (a webzine) and before that,
The Lewis and Clark Literary Review. On the website GotPoetry?, she
has earned several first place finishes under the screename "HSTeech,"
in small contests. In the fall of 2010, Andrea’s chapbook Leaves
Pasted Akimbo came out. Dedicated to her young daughter, the book’s
pages are divided between poems inspired by her daughter, and poems
meant for her daughter to read later in life, about her family. Andrea
lives in Glastonbury, CT, with her 7 year old daughter and some cats,
among a whole bunch of trees.
Come help us welcome Andrea Barton to the store on Tuesday, March 1st
and share some of your own poetry at the open mic!
