Speaking of Dogs, I hope you also saw Mr. Dyer in today's Post as well
getting his doggies blessed.

I stopped getting the CtPost when it whittled down to such a brief regurgitation of what I get a day in advance via their twitter feed, facebook page, and google news.  Why buy the milk when they give the cow for free?  No wonder newspapers are dying.

Sadly as the paper gets smaller, more people stop taking it, especially if you can get the information over the Internet. However to use your analogy, if the cow stops getting fed, there will be no milk for anyone, those that pay and those that don't. Reporters like Kate need to be paid, and without reporters and newspapers to provide a balance information to the voters and concerned citizens, we will be far worse off. People generally only read the blogs of those that they agree with, most of which are backed with little or no investigation. Most bloggers just sit and pontificate on what they want to happen.

I too have the same fears.  I still get the Post but note how dramatically the news coverage has shrunk over the last 2 years.  Its been a joke for National coverage for 10 years.  My neighbors and our house are probably some of the last to get both the Post and the NY Times papers delivered in the AM to try and get a balance of local and national news.  I still like to "turn the pages" with my breakfast.

Your fears came true EdM.  From twitter about an hr ago:
ValleyIndy RT @romenesko New York Times to cut 100 newsroom jobs -- an 8% reduction. http://is.gd/4rhtL
