hi all,

just a quick note that there's this cool new example in GIT examples/, a
1,050 sloc raytracer. the author has only just started working on it, but
see attachment for what it can already do. after some quick changes to the
original version to avoid lots of allocations, it is now about 55 times
faster on my system. the frontend (examples/pylot_main.py) has a simple GUI
and uses multiprocessing to run several instances of the compiled extension
module in parallel.

the author has lots of plans for improvements, so it will be interesting to
see how well shedskin is able to cope as the program grows.
