Hello, I'm Adrian!
Annoyingly SHDC got started just when I left Cambridge, but after
bumping into Simon elsewhere on t'Internet I found out it's going strong
and so decided to at least participate virtually. I'm in Liverpool now
but do get back to Cambridge from time to time, so if a visit coincides
with one of the meetings I'll be along.
I'm more of a software guy by background - lots of embedded C and C++ -
and am now freelancing in coding and building small bits of hardware.
Generally Arduino-based [1] because it's cheap, easy-to-use and
popular. I've just finished soldering up an ethernet board for one of
my Arduino projects, so soon Bubblino [2] - my bubble-blowing twitter
monitor - will no longer need a companion laptop to talk to the web.
I've also been developing an energy monitor, Mazzini [3], which is in
prototype stage at present and is logging the power my server is using
live to the web on Pachube [4]. I need to find something with more
interesting power consumption, because the server usage doesn't
fluctuate much...
I have a blog [5] and am on twitter [6] too, in case anyone wants to
keep track of what I get up to.
Looking forward to hearing about what you get up to at the meetings,
Adrian.

Procrastination is my middle name...
Nevertheless, I plan to do some bare-metal coding on my beagle board.
How about setting a quite reasonable goal of creating a command line
interface which can be used to poke around in memory?

I'm a Kiwi who is in London for about ten days and noticed your SHDC
meetup on Upcoming so am considering heading up to Cambridge for it.
(Seeing as I've not managed to make the one that is normally "closest"
to me in Wellington.)
Simon suggested some of you might be interested in checking out my
website: <http://code.rancidbacon.com/>
My interests include Arduino and Python.
Assuming I don't spend all my time talking and/or being nosey about
what everyone else is doing I hope to make some progress with one of
the following:
* Arduino USB shield project
<http://code.rancidbacon.com/ProjectLogArduinoUSB>
* Arduino enclosure project <http://code.rancidbacon.com/ProjectArduinoCase>
* Arduino Flash/REST interface project
<http://code.rancidbacon.com/Flashduino>
Most likely the latter.
So, no guarantees, but hopefully I'll see you there. :-)

I enjoyed the evening talking and hacking, thanks for making me feel
welcome. :-)
Good luck for your future events and the opening of Cambridge's first
hackerspace. :-D
