Seeking dancers or comedic actors who can move - for a show this
Sunday!
No pay.
The paste below is from Ryan Hemphill:
I'm directing an Opera this Sunday with the Encata Collective and I
need some dancers, or comedic actors with good movement skills to do
participate in a small portion of the show. It would only require a
rehearsal this saturday and a performance on Sunday. The rehearsal on
Saturday would be from 1:15 - 3:30, and the performance is at 4pm on
Sunday. Please email me at

Butterfly" by Lori Laitman for voice and saxophone, "L'Histoire de
Babar" by Francis Poulenc for piano and narrator, "Duetto buffo di due
gatti" by Giacchino Rossini, and excerpts from the opera "Help, Help,
the Globolinks!" by Gian Carlo Menotti. The concert is at St. George's
Chapel (East 16th Street & Rutherford Place) on Sunday, March 30, 2008
at 4:00 pm. Tickets are $15/10 (students/seniors). Performers to

Lincoln (piano), Griffin Campbell (saxophone), Annie Asuka Yano

Hemphill (director).
Children are an enduring source of inspiration for composers and
writers. The text of Laitman's "I Never Saw Another Butterfly" is
drawn from a collection of poems written by children from the Terezin
Concentration Camp. According to the composer, "One cannot help but be
touched by the hope and innocence that these children put into their
poetry, despite their terrible surroundings." Poulenc's "L'Histoire de
Babar" tells the beloved children's story of the king of the
elephants. Rossini's "Duetto buffo di due gatti" is a humorous cat
fight between two "meow-ing" sopranos. Menotti's "Help, Help, the
Globolinks!" is a comic opera combining human voices and computer-
generated sounds to represent the Globolinks--extraterrestrial
visitors. The composer himself crafted the libretto, in which school
teachers and children join forces to save the earth from the
Globolinks by using the magical power of music. Menotti's humor and
charming plot twists are appealing to all generations.
