I know...I haven't sent out an update in a *long* time. Time just
flew by on me! Anyhow, it's November - and I am once again sponsoring
my annual Toys for Tots Hafla - this is my 5th year! The details are

Oh...before you read on about the hafla - Nomadic Tapestry is bringing
in Artemis Mourat for a workshop that weekend as well. Check
www.nomadictapestry.com for information about the workshop. She is a
wonderful instructor - full of knowledge and well researched in her
area of expertise - Turkish Oriental and Romany. She will be
performing at the hafla as well!
5th Annual Toys for Tots Hafla: Chinese Silent Auction and Benefit
Show
Come on out and support the Marine's Toys for Tots Program by
participating in Shahala's 5th Annual Toys for Tots Hafla. On
November
22, 2008, A Toys for Tots Hafla will be held at American Legion Post
237
at 2900 Drake Avenue in Huntsville.
What is a Hafla anyways? A Hafla is simply a Middle Eastern party. The
featured
performer this year will be Artemis Mourat from Maryland! There will
also be several guest artists from surrounding areas as well as local
performers - Nalah Caravanserai from Madison
and Lumani and the Lounge Lizards from Huntsville.
There will also be a chinese silent auction and all the proceeds of
the auction
will be for Toys for Tots. The event starts at 6:00 pm with the show
featuring
Middle Eastern Dance beginning at 7:30 pm. During intermission, the
results
of the silent auction will be announced. Bring your checkbooks or cash
since all
the items will need to be taken home that evening.
Show tickets are $12 for adults, $7 for kids 6-12. Bring a toy to
donate and
you get $2 off the ticket price! Chinese Auction Tickets will start at
$5.
