Hey All,

I wanted to thank all of you for the great ride. Even though the fog along the coast hid the coastal scenery I enjoyed the adventure very much.

My highlights were:
- The chili at the campsite on the way back
- The shower and the bed in Cloverdale
- Chatting to 4 or 5 of you while catching up on the second day
- Learning my average moving speed dropped from about 28 - 29kph on the first day to about 25 - 26kph on the second (despite less climbing).

I am looking forward to the 1,000km (my butt perhaps less so ;)
Cheers,
Norman

Hi Norman,

Perhaps I misheard you but could you share with the others just how much sleep you got on the ride? I think you said 10 hours? ????

Hi Rob,

I was back in Cloverdale around 9:20pm and continued my ride at 7am the next morning. Average speed was 28+kph on the first day. Here is the Strava record.

Given that I am a total Newbie to randoneering I wanted to test my 1,000k strategy. I guess I will amend my approach a bit. During the longer ride, I will have to shorten my first night sleep by a few hours in order to save up a few hours for the second night.

Best,
Norman

Have you tried racing ;-)

With that kind of average speed you fall into the lucky group who can get plenty of sleep because you are so fast on the road. I wish I could get my average speed up, I'm stuck at 20 (or less).

I know whose wheel I want to get on!  For those 45 seconds before I'm dropped, I'll be a rocket.
