Hello,
I apologize for the short notice but I thought I'd pass this along (from DBC list) to other groups in case anyone is interested in helping; last I heard Rich was still looking for additional experienced riders to accompany and encourage the kids for any part of the ride as well as additional SAGs or loaner bikes. Please see note below and please contact Rich <richl...@sbcglobal.net> directly if you are interested/able to help.
Cheers,
Lee

From Rich:
First, in case you didn't read the original e-mail. I will be taking 25 high school students from the small public high school in Oakland that I teach on a 500 mile bike tour from May 31st to June 12th starting at the Golden Gate Bridge traveling north generally paralleling Hwy 101 to the Ave. of the Giants and then back again via Hwy 1. (You can see a more detailed itinerary at the bottom of the e-mail). Response from DBCers has been absolutely tremendous!! What an amazing group of people who make up the members of the club. I'm am incredibly thankful for all the support which has been given to me and these students, who will hopefully experience the trip of their lives and maybe even begin a lifelong love of cycling. We still could use adults who would like to ride and/or help drive SAG support for parts of the trip. Even if you only could come out and ride with the students for a day or two, they could really benefit from experienced riders encouraging them, sharing cycling stories, or passing along any cycling tips you can. Also, several generous individuals have loaned bikes for students to use on the trip, but we could still use a few more as several of the students have heavy mountain bikes which are usable, but certainly will make the tour much more difficult. If you have an older road bike that's just sitting in your garage which you wouldn't mind parting with for a couple of weeks, it could help make a student's trip much more enjoyable. Again, thanks to everyone who has helped so far, and I look forward to sharing pictures, video and highlights in the near future. -- RichBoettner Here are the day to day destinations and approximate mileage.
