It's a block from the Ashby BART station.
They recently redid (overdid?) their Web site, and sort of hid the
best link to nuts & bolts class info. Go to this page...
http://afberkeley.org/LearnFrench/FeesandRegistrationPolicy.aspx
...and click on the "current schedule of classes" link at the bottom --

Basically their sessions run in two-month blocks, with most classes
meeting for one weekly two-hour session. A block just started
yesterday. I've been taking "Jeux de rôles" (role playing) for a
number of sessions for the past year and a half or so, and it's
totally awesome. However, I'm taking a session or two off right now
so that I have time to go to the gym and do some night riding during
the week for the next few months. ('Tis the season!)
I've only had classes there with a couple of instructors, but I
really, really like Olivier Walty who does Jeux de rôles as well as
some general instruction classes. My wife took one of his general
classes last session, and she found it very useful -- never
discouraging, and lots of very rich instruction way beyond rules of
grammar.
Oh, there is also an Alliance Française in SF, but I'm not familiar
with it: http://afsf.com/
Rob, I sent a post to [Randon] a while back describing many easy
little ways you can expose yourself to the language. I do a little
something (reading, listening, writing, chatting, watching, etc.) just
about every day, and it seems to really add up over time. I'll dig up
that post and forward it to you.
Bon courage Rob! :)
