R2 Surgery Rotation Information

Outpatient Surgery Rotation

Colorectal: Dr. Dan Froese (Arnold Building, 1221 Madison, #1220, ph. 622-4745) welcomes residents Mon-Fri from 9:00 AM until about 12:00 PM. He will take one resident per week. Dr. Richard Billingham and Rodney Kratz (1101 Madison, # 500, ph. 386-6600) also welcome residents. Dr. Billingham  has office hours Monday AM, Wednesday PM, and Thursday PM; Dr Kratz has office hours Monday AM and Thursday AM  They request at least one day notice, but prefer a week’s notice. 

 

Podiatry: Doug Hale, DPM, please call Denise to schedule (600 Broadway #220 ph. 344-3808). Dr. Hale is available Mon Wed, Thurs PMs & Fri AMs. He requests one week’s notice.

 

Burn Clinic:  Wednesday afternoons, 1 to 5, Dr. Nicole Gibran, Director, Harborview Medical Center Burn Center.  Contact person is Tetana Oguara. She can be reached at (206) 744-3140, or by email: tetanao@u.washington.edu.

 

Wound Clinic: Wednesday morning, 8AM to 12PM, Wound Healing Center at Cherry Hill. Contact person is Sally Munn. She can be reached at (206) 320-2492, or by email: sally.munn@swedish.org.

 

Vasectomy: Dr. Charles "Chick" Wilson (525-4090) at The Vasectomy Clinic at Sand Point Village, 5402 47th Ave N.E., Seattle, WA 98105.

 

Circumcission Clinic and SFMC Procedure Clinic: Located in the "procedure pod" of the SFM First Hill Campus building, 1401 Madison. Work with Family Medicine Faculty, Attendings, and OB Fellows doing minor outpatient procedures.

 

Glaser Clinic: Located in the "procedure pod" of the SFM First Hill Campus building, 1401 Madison. Work with General Surgery Chief Residents doing minor outpatient procedures and evaluating patients for general surgery.

 

Schedule: This rotation has 2 X 2 week blocks noted below. Residents may take vacation or CME.

RRC Requirements:

"
The residents must be required to participate in a structured experience in general surgery of at least 2 months, including ambulatory care (non-inpatient care: e.g., surgical centers, emergency room and physician offices), operating room experience, and post-operative experience. Experiences in general surgery must be designed to provide opportunity for residents to achieve competency in the diagnosis and management of a wide variety of common surgical problems typically cared for by family physicians. Experiences are usually expected to be with general surgeons. If non-generalist surgeons are used for this experience, the program director must explain how this experience exposes residents to common surgical problems."



Driving directions

All rotation sites are located within walking distance from Swedish Medical Center, with the exception of Dr. Wilson's clinic (vasectomy). He is located just off Sand Point Way, about 3 blocks north of Children's Hospital, behind Katterman's Pharmacy.
