WHAT TO BRING: Your stethoscope and a positive attitude!

WHAT TO EXPECT: Janna is a nurse practitioners and the primary providers at the clinics. They will coordinate your rotation and act as your on-site preceptor. You will have patients scheduled to see you, usually 1 per hour. (Therefore, it is REALLY important to call and let them know if you can’t make it for some reason!!!) The visits can be about anything, but often are sports physicals, birth control counseling, paps, URIs, pregnancy tests, HIV test counseling, STD checks, etc. You will be expected to do all your own vital signs, labs, etc (they can help you with where stuff is, etc.)  The kids are great, and you really do some cool, hands-on adolescent medicine!!!  Teen clinic is another opportunity to work with teens.  These teens are homeless or at high risk of becoming homeless; a great opportunity to practice the biopsychosocial approach to medicine.
