OK, More details.
My preferred sound is clear, unfettered, without any editorializing by the
components if at all possible. Not possible in the strictest sense but one
can try. IMO there is a lot of music on whatever source one chooses. A lot
of stuff messes with the sound in ways I do not like. Forget about all that

So do you feel like divulging more specifics on this project?
(Where have your experiments gotten you, what's the preferred sound today?
Maybe we'll learn something else, different configuration/components we
HAVE to try :) ).
What are you using for filament heaters?
Did you make them yourself, or are they like Tent, or Colemans?

I'm in the middle of building a strain gauge phono pre, a pretty involved
dac, and an amp or three, and it's inspiring to see someone has completed a
project!

As I recall, those Audio Note speakers are finicky, and need placement in a
corner for bass. I think that's what Mark is referring to - a lack of
corners.

Needing a square room to sound up to it's potential is really odd. Square
rooms are only good at strong resonances and nulls.

The system does not do well at all in the new place. I don't have a
perfect room with square dimensions which is what it likes. It's still
sounds pretty good, just not playing up to its potential.
