Relaxing Friday pace, shenanigans strictly prohibited, aiming for about 16mph average to RWC (which probably translates to 16.5-17 to MTV).  Regroups for anybody that gets stopped at a light etc.

Nice ride folks. A little faster than intended, but a good time. Tri-guy and PfC are officially reprimanded for instances of ride-style hijacking.

Did you get rained on at all? There was a mild drizzle at 18th & Castro while I waited for my bus this morning...

no rain at all, nice weather, fun ride.

but yeah dudes, please adhere to the ride call.  people show up expecting a certain pace, and they shouldn't be forced to hang on for dear life.  Ted very clearly said style III, no shenanigans.  that means no surging off the front at lights and you should never see >22mph on your speedo on the flats (that said, pfc was just closing a gap, not instigating).

just gotta go faster? call your own ride.

I think the apparent need to 'close a gap' is the problem. If somebody shows up to a style III ride and starts hammering at 26mph, just let them go, otherwise things rapidly degenerate into a hammer-fest.

ok, ok.

i'd hardly call it a need but it seemed fun to try to see if we could
catch in one segment (wind-tunnel). after that we were >22 on the sun
sprint but it was more like cruising home on auto-pilot.

So, for the record, Thursday ride was really nice for me; generally
started out casually from the lights, running up to ~23 in between,
with occasional runs up to 24-25, but they were generally gradual,
which makes things much easier to hang on for, in my experience.
(Especially if you didn't have to struggle to get on at the light.)

Following a similar plan on slower rides, just toned down (example:
run up to 20, 21 in between, occasionally push it into the 23 range),
would probably have avoided comment. :)

Mebbe. If by 4pm my UPS tracking number has another delivery-failed
line, then I'm in ... if the package is still out for delivery I may
hop an early shuttle and try to get home to receive it. Damn UPS.
