This is supposed to be really good.
http://norcalmtnbikeracing.blogspot.com/2009/11/race-across-sky-encore.html

For anyone else who missed it, it is playing again one night only this
Thurs night at 8pm at the cinema in the Westfield Shopping center on
Market st.
If you're interested in meeting up, let me know- I'm gonna try to go
(though need to be organized to take an early enough caltrain and then
hope it doesn't hit some people).

I'm going. I missed the last showing--I'm pumped that there's an encore.

I enjoyed it,  I wonder how many entries they'll be getting for next years race as a result.

I honestly wasn't all that impressed with it. It was cool to see, but it didn't blow my mind. Wayyy too Lance-centric, especially the panel discussion before and after. "SO! What was it like to ride in the same vicinity as Lance Armstrong???????"  There were some cool scenic helicopter shots, and the back stories of some of the non-Lance people were pretty interesting.
I still think the best bike movie to come out recently was 'Seasons' by the Collective. See if if you have the chance.

They couldn't change the day of the week this time around? I can't do Thursdays. :-(

oh yeah, the doted on him almost as much.

a female friend of mine pointed out after the movie, however, that there was barely a mention of the first woman and she wasn't part of the panel discussion with the guys.

Dave Wiens got mega props and a good amount of camera time.  I think Ted is showing his crotchety old man side in his mini-review.  Sure there was a lot of Lance camera time but let's be frank, without Lance there is no way the movie would have been made.  Plus the times when it did tend towards 'what was it like to ride with Lance' were mostly directed at a local to Durango MTB instructor for Ft.Lewis college who was rocking the front of the pack right alongside Lance for much of the race, I felt it really served to call out what an amazing performance he put in.

If you don't like Lance then you probably won't like the movie.  If you might enjoy a film that shows a tough ass MTB race set against some beautiful scenery without a whole lot of plot that might just inspire you to get out and ride then it's just the thing.  It's not going to blow your mind, it won't bring peace to the mid-east but also won't respark the cold war, it's just a movie.

Somehow as Lance got a flat during the race, there happened to be a cameraman, right then and there, shooting him attempting to fix the flat. That was entertaining to see. Entertaining movie for sure, but yeah, not mind blowing. Speaking about outdoorsy flicks, this is where I'll go ahead and plug in the Banff Mountain Film Festival. Not all about bikes, but always fun to go see that tour when it comes to town.

Seasons looks intense!

Being behind the times, as usual, I recently found and watched blood,
sweat + gears, the documentary about Garmin Slipstream's 2008 season.
Good insights into the team (they're very cool guys) and into JV (he's
amazingly egotistical, but I find it funny more than annoying).

Oh also there's an equivalent documentary for Cevelo Test Team up at
http://www.bartape.net/video.aspx?t=Video&i=Documentary which is
mostly worth watching to see Carlos Sastre be pissy all the time.

I'm probably in for this since I missed the last time they showed it.
Thanks Faye for the heads up!

Will there be a rondezvous point for anyone up for biking to the showing?  The theater is eight miles from MV Caltrain on local streets, with bike lanes most of the way.
