Hi,

I want to be able to cause an app to run, when I launch a different
app. For example, when I play a game, I want to run an app that hides
the bottom bar on my ICS tablet. Likewise, when I exit the app, the
hidebar app should run again (it's a toggle) to bring the bar back.

Hoping that makes sense.

When I tried, the 'Running App' condition (the closest I could find to
the above) it kept re-runnng the bar toggle, causing to show/hide
every second and was a general mess overall.

Does this functionality exist now, but I'm missing it somehow?

I've run into this same issue. In my case I have a rule to enable a profile which sets the screen brightness to 100% (Full brightness) whenever I launch certain games. What happens is Setting Profiles notices the app open and so it enables the profile which causes a "toast" effectively putting my game into the background again which disables the profile. Once the toast disappears (almost immediately) Setting Profiles again notices the game application is open (in the foreground) and once again enables the profile. This goes on in an endless loop. There should be a setting, either global or per rule (rule tweak maybe) to disable the toast/notification.

perhaps you can try adding "pause" or several pauses after your command
