Are there any other sources reporting this besides that blog?

Not that I don't trust a blog that doesn't cite a source, but well, I kinda don't

For what its worth, here's another way to look at what Google is more likely to do:

For its part, Google anticipates it will translate its No. 1 position in PC search to the mobile phone with a strategy of delivering "the most compelling user experience" by providing the most relevant results in a way mobile consumers want them, says Dilip Venkatachari, product-management director, Google Mobile. Google, he says, views mobile search not as a zero-sum game but as a medium with widespread potential beyond text messaging and such fare as Google Maps and YouTube clips.

Mr. Venkatachari expects Google to score by gaining in vertical areas such as financial services. Google also has unveiled plans for a mobile-content-search service, and is making waves in the space by telling the Federal Communications Commission it will bid at least $4.6 billion in a coming auction for a wireless spectrum, as long as the spectrum remains an open platform.

hmm... I read some where Google is setting up its own network parallel to the existing network carriers. Its also plans to cover entire US in its wireless internet umbrella. Is that true??

Does anybody know why Google is providing free wireless internet in San Francisco...??

that was a rumor floated around a few years ago because Google started buying up a bunch of dark fiber (circa late 2004 I want to say).

As far as San Francisco, that's mostly because they live there (well Mountain View is a skip away).  Having spent a ton of time in San Fran in the last year, I can safely say that wireless setup they have in San Fran isn't really anything worth bragging about (if it ever actually did get off the ground)

Dave

I went thru the following news story http://money.cnn.com/news/newsfeeds/articles/djf500/200708021436DOWJONESDJONLINE001003_FORTUNE5.htm

What's this auction all about? and if Google ultimately succeeds how will it impact the Search Engine industry.

I have heard MSN will bring more changes to its Live Web. Some one from Microsoft said that MSN has enough hits each day but users don't come back again and again. He argued an avg visitors comes to msn 8 times a day, while the same for yahoo is arnd 18. This makes MSN lag behind.

Whats the latest news about change in GOOGLE ALGO - http://www.webpronews.com/topnews/2007/07/24/cutts-google-honors-the-underscore-now
