The ASA 2010 Call for Proposals is Now Open -- Deadline: March 31, 2010

As you may already know, the ASA 2010 Call for Proposals is now open.
At the last SSG meeting, in New Orleans, I volunteered to coordinate a panel. Now, I would like to invite those of you who might be interested to send me there paper proposals, which "should consist of a statement about the topic, the nature and extent of the research on which the paper (...) is based and a brief summary of the main argument(s) (approximately one paragraph, or 8-10 sentences)," as stipulated by the ASA. Once I receive your proposals, I will draft a panel proposal which I will first share with you before submitting it. This year's deadline being March 31, 2010, it would be good if you could send me your proposals by March 15, 2010, at the latest. In case I end up receiving more proposals than we could possibly accommodate in one panel, we will maybe need to think about putting together a second panel proposal, which another SSG member would coordinate. I will let the group know if that were the case.

Please free to weigh in if you think of any other ways in which we should go about putting these panels together.

This is to remind you that the deadline for submission of abstracts for
the ASA panel on orality/oraliture is March 15, 2010. This panel will
be held by the Senegalese Studies Group to address issues related to
oral culture, oral tradition, literature; poetry, oral discourse and
the like. Please submit your abstracts to me directly at
ms...@email.unc.edu by March 15 if you wish to be considered for this
panel.
