Ok, the final story is that any profile older than three months that hasn't been accessed should still show up in searches, etc, but will be clearly marked as inactive.  Any profile older than six months that hasn't been accessed will NOT show up in searches, although it will still exist.  In either case, if the owner of the profile logs in, their profile will be reactivated.  There shouldn't be any more 404 pages for profiles - either you get an active profile, or an inactive profile, or it won't show up at all.

Please, as you surf through S2, if you see anything that's not working properly, let me know either here at the S2 Google group, or at s2a...@sendsomething.net, or directly at lei...@gmail.com.  We're on Facebook, too.  Please ask your S2 friends to join the Google group and Facebook if they haven't already.  I like having ways to access everyone who uses S2 so I can get their feedback.
