I verified both RS-232 and RS-485 communications on the Sedona Dev
Kit. I used a custom serial protocol driver that was implemented
specifically for that testing purpose. However if your questions is,
"Has anyone made a Workbench connection (SOX protocol) via the RS-485
port of a Sedona device?"... I have not done that.

Do we need the sox through rs485 if what you did works like modbus or bacnet then all is good

You need an IP connection to the Sedona device in order to use Sox to program the device, add/remove kits, etc.

Sedona can talk to other devices using 485, but you cannot connect Sedona deivces to Niagara Workbench or JACE devices over 485 using standard Tridium drivers.

IP over BACnet MSTP a possibility in the future, but not currently supported.  Specification is currently winding it's way through IETF and ASHRAE committees.  This would enable Sox over IP over BACnet MSTP.
