Should I fix my car?

My car has recently started making some unpleasant noises. In addition to
the slow CV joint failure I've been experiencing since I bought it, I now
have a faint but persistent engine whine. I only need the car to last for
another ~8,000 miles / 24 months at which point I'll cheerfully sell it
