LiveCode Summer Camp 2013 at Sector67

Attention techno-kids:

Ever thought it would be cool to write your own app for your iPhone or iPad? Got an idea for a great game, or a useful app, but thought you had to be a professional programmer in order to build apps for iOS?

Not anymore! The LiveCode programming language makes this possible for anyone with a couple of hours practice and a great idea. Thanks to a successful Kickstarter campaign, LiveCode has now gone Open Source, free for anyone to use for personal or educational purposes.

LiveCode is an extremely easy-to-learn and easy-to-use programming language. It runs on Mac, Windows or Linux computers, and builds programs that can run on Mac, Windows and Linux computers, and on iOS and Android handhelds.

The LiveCode Summer Camp will teach you how to program in this amazingly simple yet powerful language. We'll start with easy laptop programs and quickly move on to apps for iPhones and iPads. You'll write your first program in the first hour of class, and then have the rest of the week to learn how to make wherever game or app you'd like. We'll give special attention to writing simple games, but also learn how to interface to real-world objects like joysticks and Arduinos.

The camp is best suited to kids age 8-13, though interested parents may also enroll. If you have your own laptop, bring it along. If not, you can use Sector67's computers. And thanks to the just-released LiveCode Community Edition, you'll be able to go home with a free copy of LiveCode so you can keep working on your app or game.
