College Fair FAQ:
What is this? A college fair in Second Life is very much like a college fair in real life. It is an opportunity for college and university representatives to meet with prospective students to share information. The virtual environment allows students and representatives from from
all over the world to interact with one another-and no one needs to leave home!
How does it work? College representatives will set up booths at the fair location. Booths can contain information objects, freebie give-aways, teleports and weblinks, and more! Attendees will explore the fair site, pick up information resources, and talk with representatives. The information booths will remain at the fair site one week following the active fair period, to maximize exposure of your information.
Do I need to attend during the full fair period? We have extended the fair period this year to accommodate a more international audience. Individual college representatives do not have to be on site for the full 2 day period. We suggest you post a schedule at your booth, to let visitors know when you will be available during the active fair period.
Why should I participate as a college representative? This is an opportunity to connect with a global audience to promote your school! It is also a chance to network with other educators who are exploring Second Life as an educational tool.
How do I participate? College and university representatives who would like to participate in the fair should register using
this sign up form. (One form per school, but you can have more than one representative at the fair.) Space is limited so please sign up early! Prospective students and other fair visitors do not need to sign up in advance. There is not cost or registration fee for this event.
Building specifications and other information for college representatives is available here.
