I plan to volunteer at the Farmer control during this year's Cascade 1200K.  Like the last time we hosted the Cascade 1200K, I plan to pre ride it with minimal sleep.  I would like to reserve a room in Quincy (695K) to take a shower and a 2 hr nap.  I plan to drive to Quincy a few days before to leave a drop bag at the motel and pick it up a few days afterwards.  The Quincy website's lodgings include: Sundowner Motel, Quincy Inn & Suites, Country Cabin and Crescent Hotel.  Tripadvisors.com had 2 reviews of the Crescent Hotel, which were very unfavorable.  However, the others weren't reviewed and could even be worse!  Does anyone have recommendations where to stay or not to stay?  If so, please share these online since some Cascade 1200 participants may also be interested.   Before anyone else considers such a endeavor (unsupported Cascade 1200K on minimal or no sleep), you should know that food and water supplies can be very far apart and it can be very, very hot on parts of the route in Eastern WA.  (Rumors of 120F on the route in 2008!)  Those are some reasons why the organizers recommend all riders use the 3 overnight stops!  Having been so warned, I would consider sharing the room and single drop bag shuttle with others who are foolish enough to want to join me. Right now my starting date is tentatively Sunday 6/17 but I am flexible.  (Avoiding Sat nite around the Gorge where concerts fill hotel rooms and impaired drivers abound!)  Last time I tried to preride it alone, I fell hard on an oil slick in the rain and broke my wrist.  Sh_ _  happens!  When you are on an unsupported ride so far from home, you have to deal with it.  Please contact me off line if you want to share the room and bag shuttle for an unsupported, unofficial Cascade 1200K pre-ride.  Tom

Sorry, but I erred in using the term unofficial pre-ride.  Therefore, I plan on doing the "2005 Cascade 1200 Route as single Permanent (0594)".  I have unfinished business from my last attempted ride thru and am arranging a drop bag and sleep/shower room.  I just thought that I would share that with anyone else who wants to ride thru the 2005 route during a time when the official Cascade 1200 is not occuring.   If others want to join me, we may be able to do it as a group permanent depending on who participates and the willingness of the permanent organizers to allow us to do a group permanent.  I will be volunteering during the Cascade 1200 and am not trying to pull riders from the official ride.  If you want to ride thru during the official ride, you will probably have more support than I am organizing for my permanent ride.
