As an Open Source Software Engineer, you will be responsible for creating
applications using PHP, Javascript, CSS, Perl, MySQL and HTML. You will
be working on the cutting edge of PHP development using the latest PHP
version, Zend technologies such as Zend Framework, Zend Studio for Eclipse
and Zend Core. These technologies form the basis for our advanced MVC UI
architecture. Candidates must have the ability to take a project through
the entire Software Development Life Cycle working collaboratively in a
team environment. This position requires strong PHP skills in both
object-oriented and procedural programming (emphasis on object-oriented).
This position is great for developers who want to work on PHP in a
commercial enterprise development environment.
* Create robust, extensible web applications using Zend technologies
(Zend Framework, Zend Studio for Eclipse and Zend Core), PHP 5.0,
JavaScript, Perl and MySQL.
* Review/create technical specifications.
* Review functional specification and work with the project team to
provide technical solutions that meet the needs of the business.
* Manage work on an ongoing basis to ensure target, on-time delivery
and provide continuous improvement and updates.
Qualifications:
* 3+ years of experience creating web applications using PHP and
MySQL.
* BS in Computer Science or Engineering or related field.
* Strong knowledge of object-oriented programming practices and
Model, View, Controller paradigm. Experience with use of OO constructs in
PHP 5.0 is a plus
* Proficient in SQL and understanding of relational database and
schema creation.
* Commitment to quality, customer service and teamwork.
* Technical skills: PHP, Object-oriented programming, MySQL, Perl,
HTML, JavaScript, cascading style sheets, SQL, XML, SOAP, Linux (shell
scripting with Perl and basic understanding of Linux tools), and Apache
web server (basic configuration knowledge).
* Experience working with Java, C#, or other pure object-oriented
language a plus.
* Experience working with Zend Technologies a plus.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* The ability to write clear technical specifications and to explain
technical ideas and designs to peers and management, and independent
problem solving abilities are required.
* The candidate must be able to work in a team environment, taking
project from specification to end user acceptance. Must have a proven
record of delivering software products.
