I'm an full-time artist who paints in oil on canvas, using traditional
methods that are hundreds of years old to create imagery that is visionary. I
build and stretch my own canvases, prepare them with multiple coats of
hand-sanded gesso, and paint them with a specially medium I have formulated
that allows me to control the transparency of the paint. This creates
paintings that seem to glow with an inner light, and creates rich color and
depth. I frame them with hand-rubbed tung oil-finished moulding, around a thin
black relief, to set off the painting, but not be intrussive.
These works are of museum quality, and will last for generations. My
paintings are in public, private and corporate collections, and exhibited and
sold in museums, galleries and by art dealers and collectors in Europe and
the US. I am represented by Geraldine Hyde Murray, artists' representative,
Gunnar Nordstrom Gallery, and the Seattle Art Museum Rental Sales Gallery.
As you may be able to tell from this, I really love what I do. The images
I create are abstract, non-representational renderings that I intend to be
filled with energy, emotion, beauty, harmony and light. They sometimes vary
in intensity of color and form, depending on what is happening in my life
when I ampainting them. I choose to work in the abstract since this allows you
the viewer to bring your own unique vision to bear on these images,
interacting withthem in close relation to your life.
I would love to share them with you, and further, have you share them
with others. Give a very special one-of-a-kind gift for the holidays this
year, one that will grow in value each year both emotionally and monetarily.
Give a uniquework of fine art.
Please join me in the opening night of my show at the Gunnar Nordstrom
Gallery in Kirkland (127 Lake Street South) on Thursday, November 10th
from 6PM - 9PM. The opening is part of Kirkland's monthly Second-Thursday
Gallery-Walk. Also on exhibit will be neon sculptures by Tacoma artist Kevin
Russell, and a kiosk displaying my digital works, created on a mac.
(All the work in the show will be for sale. A range of payment options are
available, including leasing and rent-to-own.)
Come and enjoy an evening out, absorbing some visual culture in the many
galleries here, and check out what I do for a living, and give me a chance to
meet some fellow cyber-jockies in person.
Looking forward to meeting you, John
