ELC is a summer studio program for children showing potential in the
visual arts. Below is a week to week listing of our summer courses.


Date Weekly Subject


June 16 Information and Registration Day We've reserved this
day for parents and children to come see our work space and to answer any
questions parents may have about the program. Drop by any time between
9am and 12pm.


June 19-23 Week 1 Figure and Form Human and Animal
The figure is examined through the art of various cultures. Contour
drawing, proportioning, gesture drawing, and modeling are
explored._______


June 26-30 Week 2 Landscape and Perspective Learning perspective
and associated techniques
will be the focus of the week. Both American and French
Impressionists are used as references. _____

July 3-7 No Classes

July 10-14 Week 3 Drawing from the Masters including Tintorreto, Durer,
Caravaggio, and Da Vinci. The course includes techniques for
shading (chiaroscuro) and rendering._______


July 17-21 Week 4 All About Color and Texture We have a lot of fun this
week looking at what we can do with color and texture. Artists
whose focus has been color theory and/or dramatic surfacing will
be studied. ______

July 24-28 Week 5 Art around the World Traditional art forms are
compared with current movements within various countries. Children
not only learn about different cultures but about how art has
transformed over time._______

July 31-August 4 Week 6 Cartooning Kids who love drawing from comic books
or their favorite TV characters will be excited by this section of our
program. We focus on exaggeration of form, simple line drawing, and
facial expression.________

August 7-11 Week 7 Story telling and the Visual Memory
This week helps children to create more sophisticated symbols in
their visual memory when not drawing from life. Native
American story telling and art work will be our primary references._______

August 14-18 Week 8 Sculptural Form Various materials will be used to
create sculpture. Types of sculpture include found
object, soft clay, and outdoor organic creations.________

August 21-25 Week 9 Water Colors still life and organic form. Water Color
techniques are used to create still life and abstract nature forms.

August 28-Sept.1 Week 10 Non-Traditional Media Week Various mixed-media
approaches and art forms will be explored. Children can bring in
their favorite subject matter as catalysts for 2-Dimensional and
3-Dimensional
creations.________
