Hi all,

I encourage everyone to check out this event!  Not only does it look like a whole lot of fun, I also know some among us would like the opportunity to sell some of their vintage technology in a way that our monthly meetings are poorly suited to.

The original message includes a vendor signup sheet and a poster advertising the place & time, but I believe our mailing list (like most) strips attachments - instead, please find those on the website indicated below.

Subject: Invitation to SRCS and members for the August 20, 2023 Shoreline Antique Radio and Vintage Market Swap Meet

Hello Seattle RetroComputing Society!

2 weeks from today the Puget Sound Antique Radio Association is having a vintage technology swap meet. I want to invite you and your members to visit, shop, sell, and (hopefully) set up a booth to advertise your club. The event and parking are free for the public. If you would like to set up a club booth, we are offering 2 free parking spaces. You can also demonstrate an aspect of vintage or STEM technology and let the attendees know what your club is all about!

The swap meet starts at 9 am and is located at NW Innis Arden Way, Shoreline, WA in the parking lot of Shoreline Community College and runs to about 2 pm.

Let me know if you are interested by email, chat or phone. Below is more information about our swap meet and attached is a flyer. Please share this information with your members. Anyone who would like to demonstrate is invited to return the attached exhibitor sign-up form.

Thank you and we hope to hear from you!

This is the Puget Sound Antique Radio Association’s 50th year as a club and we really want to share our appreciation of all things radio and vintage technology! Every year on the third Sunday in August, we throw a big vintage swap meet at the Shoreline Community College. This event is free for the public to attend and browse 100+ years of radio and vintage technology. Parking is free and Shoreline Community College is on a busline.

To celebrate our Jubilee year, we are adding a few workshops and demonstrations to our Swap Meet & Vintage Market. There will be a Hands-on Technology Section where kids of all ages can tune an old radio, check out a Geiger counter, listen to a radio station on a power-free crystal radio, and experience other technologies from the past. Please ask any questions about any item you see and find out what it was used for. Most items will be from the 1920s to the 1980s and will represent an advance in our understanding of science. Items from the last century include radios, test gear, televisions, record players, computers, ham, music, records, amps, vacuum tubes, and many parts.

The radio club will have demonstrations of electrical phenomena that created our modern electrical grid, such as a Tesla Coil and a Jacob's Ladder, and another one on curve tracers, in the classroom building. Attendees will be able to see close up how they work - it is a don't-miss opportunity for the curious of all ages. Check at the event's club headquarters  next to the HQ sign on the day's events for the full schedule. Please visit our website for more information: PugetSoundAntiqueRadio.com

In previous years I've picked up core memory boards,  S-100 boards, boards I've pulled chips from, a TRS-80 Model 3 and IV and various test equipment items. I've seen Commodore, Atari and CoCos. There's previously been more than just vintage radios.

I went - among a few other things I picked up a neat Micro-Term ACT-1 terminal (1978) that I am hoping I can get up and running and use as companion for my Altair or IMSAI, just need a suitable old CRT TV to go with it.  Someone made a video about this terminal on YouTube here.

That someone would be me. The terminal you got is one of three I had. It was donated to the radio club to help them generate some operating revenue. I don't recall if that one is working or not. In my mind all three worked but it's been some time since I tested them.
