Ron kicked off the meeting dissing TADS and object oriented programming for IF in general.
Execution in the Kingdom of Nouns: http://steve-yegge.blogspot.com/2006/03/execution-in-kingdom-of-nouns.html
Suppose a golden apple is inside a closed transparent box: http://www.inform-fiction.org/I7Downloads/Documents/WhitePaper.pdf

Then we talked a bit about newcomer Matt's multiplayer IF project, and discussed some prior art.
  Guncho: http://www.guncho.com/
  Sleep is Death: http://sleepisdeath.net/
Interesting interactions between authors and audience in creating the story
  The Mongoliad: http://mongoliad.com/
  Bar Karma: http://current.com/shows/bar-karma/
  Alabaster: http://www.inform-fiction.org/I7Downloads/Examples/alabaster/
Paper: Co-Authorship and Community, by Victor Gijsbers: http://lilith.gotdns.org/~victor/innovationcomp/Innovation.pdf
and accompanying IF work, Figaro: http://ifdb.tads.org/viewgame?id=xnpdrkjsezmjl2ha

After a digression into the world of NES emulators that allow you to reverse time, we started talking about things we had been working on since the last meeting, and I showed the latest version of Richard and Larry Build a Time Machine that was shown at the IF Demo Fair:
  http://www.information-superhighway.net/kliffy/
More interesting interface experiments:
  Undum: http://undum.com/games/tutorial.en.html
Jon Ingold's Interactive Parsing extension: http://threeedgedsword.wordpress.com/2011/03/23/interactive-parsing-extension-version-1/

Ben Sokal complained about the lack of sound in IF, and Ben Cressey assured him that sound worked on the Mac with Gargoyle.
Damusix Inform extension (doesn't seem to be released?): http://groups.google.com/group/rec.arts.int-fiction/browse_thread/thread/2eb0497c8778c0cc?tvc=2

Then we discovered that Matt could use some resources to discover more about the larger IF community.
  IFDB: http://ifdb.tads.org/
  Planet IF: http://www.planet-if.com/
  IFWiki: http://www.ifwiki.org/index.php/Main_Page

And we talked a bit about cons / events where IF seemed to have a place:
  IndieCade (Blue Lacuna): http://www.indiecade.com/index.php/2010/finalist_games/
  PAX: http://www.ifwiki.org/index.php/PAX_East_2011#Blog_Posts

I put this link up on the projector when we were talking a bit about Facebook: http://www.bogost.com/games/cow_clicker.shtml

And that's more or less it.

Here's a link to the Damusix Demo, from my personal archive of "things that used to break in Gargoyle and no longer do."

Great discussions (and demo), everyone. Thanks for allowing me to
participate.

...looking forward to the next meeting.

One addition to the notes:

We briefly discussed the idea of building the Seattle IF organization
in order to attract members from the broader IF domain. This could
serve as a means of cross-pollenation (and as a way to build critical
mass). The group seemed to like the idea. Maybe we could chat about
this more next time?

(great notes Jeremy)

I like this idea. Matt, Seattle IF has done a little bit of partnering
with the local SF/F community (showing up at last year's Foolscap con)
and it would be cool to do more things like that. Other possibilities
might be doing something with local game and fiction writers, maybe
through the IGDA and area gamedev teams or local Seattle organizations
like Hugo House.

best, George

Very, very cool! I especially like the idea of engaging local game
developers and writers.

I'm really interested in helping to build the Seattle IF community. I
think we could organize some awesome events!

How did the engagement at FoolsCap go, btw?
