Anyone here have success in ripping this disc properly? It is copy
protected and when ripped it generates pixel artifacts the video. A
good example is the video for Two Places At Once. Heavy artifacts that
are subtle.
I've used both Mac and PC with minimal luck. Mac The Ripper,
Handbrake, VLC, Streamclip.

Ed,
You will have to use a program like anydvd to remove the protection.
The company that makes and sells it is called Slysoft. Vso makes
software called Convert x to DVD which will rip the dvd. It will cost
you about $80 for both. But they work very well.

Thanks to those that emailed me with responses to helping me rip.

There was one program I neglected to utilized. It's called ffmpegx and
works like a charm. It's on a MAC platform.
The pass of ripping and ingesting didn't work since they failed QC and
I didn't realize the artifacts were present when I ripped them.
So I had to go back and verify the rip. The disc IS copy protected in
some strange way but then all EMI content usually is copy protected.
Not sure if anyone realized how bad the videos were mastered along
with the audio. There are some dropouts and artifacts in the audio as
well as in the video. So now I have to go in and FIX everyone video
and remaster the audio. So looks like we will have superior versions
of the videos than what EMI has. Of course the only problem is the
titling of each video but then the only way to get it without is by
utilizing the master source.
From what we have been receiving from record labels, their source can
be very poor. Shows you how much music video history is being lost.
It's a shame too since so much speaks about certain eras. I wish I
could get a hold of all the remaining Church video to digitize and
archive.

Oh well, at least these videos will be archived.

hi all,
let me tell you how well it's worked. i've been a member of this list since the late 90s. when the list switched to google i stopped getting the messages even though i had joined the google group. it happened to be a time of major change - big move, getting married, etc - so i decided to take a break for a while (don't worry i still love the church). now it's a couple more years later and inexplicably i'm getting the messages again. however i can't go to the google group under this email and change to digest, which i would prefer. any help on that?

[for those who don't recall, i lived in australia from 2003-2006 - worked briefly with jlk on the karmic hit website, played music and "did some gardening" with ploog, and so forth, and so on]

Excellent to hear from you Chad,  How are things now? Where are you now? Congrats on getting married.  I dont post a lot on Seance much but I do read everything. I remember your move and it sounds like you've had some adventures I myself am jealous of! ; )

As far as the google thing, I am slowly adjusting a little towards it, but my main address is still my yahoo address. One thing I did was create a google address, go into settings and paste the seance googlegroups address in the area where you can forward to another email address.  That way you can get the messages on hotmail, but you will still have to go to gmail to reply for anything.  I am not sure about the digest option, as I have never done it.

BTW...Hello to everyone!  : )

It's there. If you subscribe to the group from your new address, I can delete it for you manually if you're having problems.

The instructions for subscribing and unsubscribing are very similar to traditional listservers, but Google doesn't make it immediately clear - they want you to use the web form which requires a Google account. If you want to do everything in email, do this:

-----
To send a message to this group by email, address the email to:
seanc...@googlegroups.com

To subscribe to this group by email, address the email to:
seance-lis...@googlegroups.com

To unsubscribe from this group by email, address the email to:
seance-list...@googlegroups.com

To contact the group owner by email, address the email to:
seance-l...@googlegroups.com

Part of the problem was that you never replied to the email verification request, but I went ahead and switched you to digest.

Just a heads up, there are not many tickets left for the church's Brisbane
show if anyone hasnt bought theirs yet!
If you can help spread the word on any forums, would be great to get the
whole tour sold out!!
Sydney is always the difficult one, they can often sell out on the night but
never seem to before hand, would be great to have that happen in advance.

ps has everyone noticed that the church name is now always in lower case?

It's understandable in these tough economic times - with everyone
cutting back, luxury items like capitalization are often the first
things to go....;)
