FORMER PALESTINIAN POLITICAL PRISONER TO SPEAK AT UW-MILWAUKEE

Ala Jaradat, program director of Adameer, arriving from West Bank city
of Ramallah

Milwaukee Students for a Democratic Society will be hosting Ala
Jaradat on November 5 at 7:00pm at the UWM Union Room 345b (2200 E.
Kenwood Ave.). Mr. Jaradat, a former Palestinian political prisoner,
will be arriving from Ramallah, Palestine, and is the Program Director
of Addammer, a Palestinian prisoner rights organization. The event is
free and open to the public.

"We are extremely proud to be hosting Ala Jaradat," said Jacob Flom, a
UWM student and member of Milwaukee Students for a Democratic Society.
“This event will offer a rare and exclusive opportunity for the
audience to meet, listen to, and ask questions to someone working
within Palestinian for peace and justice.”

Mr. Jaradat’s speech will offer in-depth analysis on the current
Palestinian political prisoner situation. He will be speaking about
the $3 billion dollars of annual U.S. aid that goes to Israel to help
fund Israeli prisons and detention centers. Currently, 8,100
Palestinian prisoners — including 60 women, 390 children, and 550
administrative detainees held without charge — are imprisoned in
substandard conditions and subject to torture.

This event is being brought by Milwaukee Students for a Democratic
Society, a student organization at the University of Wisocnisn-
Milwaukee. Other organizations sponsoring the event include the
Palestine Solidarity Group and the US Palestine Community Network.
