Hi,
This new Century route was just awesome. It was amazing to me to see how
soon we were out on country roads with little car traffic . and it stayed
that way for about 90 miles!!
It was brutally hot Saturday. We knew it was going to be. I saw 111
degrees on my handlebar at the base of the Kitchen Creek Climb. However, it
cooled down to 80 as we climbed up Kitchen Creek Road and we had a cool
breeze as we flew back to the Start / Finish in the low 80's. This route
will be even nicer in the Fall or next Spring.
We bought big bags of Ice at the Pine Valley Market at miles 33 and 62 which
I packed into my Polar Water Bottles and my 100 Ounce Camelbak. The result
was that I had cool fluids for most all of the ride so that worked great.
This was a good hard ride for sure. After some great discussions about the
Tour de France and Performance Enhancements at the Pine Valley Market for 36
minutes, it was full throttle all the way back in for me. Dan, Robert, Jim,
Don, Drew, and Troy were really whipping it up on the way back in and it was
really good fun. Thanks to everyone for a good ride . and a BIG THANKS to
Troy for coming up with a really outstanding ride here.
Please let me know of any changes to your miles below.
