Dear SDRandos:
So the Paseo De Jacumba 200 km had about 10.000 feet of climbing? Stage
17 of the Tour de France this year, thought to be the toughest stage,
had about 15,000 feet of climbing over 210 km. However, the TdF racers
are a) paid to race, b) have cooperative teams, c) both team and neutral
support mechanics to fix tires and if necessary replace whole bikes
(where we've got Mike Berry), d) crazy motorcyclists all about (oh,
hait, SR-94's got lots of them too), e) water and nutrition support from
the team cars (where we've got Mike, and the occasional minimart) and f)
don't have to remember to birng their ID for the Border Patrol checkpoint.
