Can anyone recommend any good art supply stores?
I'm also looking for a place that has stained glass supplies
and areas to work in ... grinding in an apartment is not always
acceptable to neighbors ... ;o)

Wow .. I just got a great charge from Metallica <SNL> ...
I need to know where to get some minor repairs done on an
electric guitar as well ... like replacing the pick guard and
checking out a loose connection.

Thanks ...

No, no, no ... I did taking drawing a few times and finally finished
it <for credit>. I loved it ... it took me to another mind set when I
was able to pass a certain point. I want to start again and also
explore different mediums, once I get going. Georgia O'Keefe,
after all, was older when she came into her own. ;o)

The stained glass .. I love glass .. someone was honing his
knife near me not too long ago and I got this shiver and then this
passion seemed to flow through me ... I couldn't figure this out at
first, but then realized it sounded just the way it sounded when I was
cutting glass. I finished one piece .. I had several thousand pounds
of glass in a shed behind our house before I moved that I had to get
rid of. I would start things and give up. I worked that one piece so
much I actually cracked one of the little panes, but it wasn't so easy
to even notice. My S/O loved it, so I let him take it with him when
we parted. I also loved pottery at one time, but never made it to the
wheel. I would sit for 8 to 10 hours working on things with others in
a little pottery shop.

I've always been so highly critical of whatever I've attempted that
I ended up quitting way to soon, before I have enough practice to
master something. Now that I understand my ADD nature, I do
believe I will be able to overcome that deficit and release what
is inside. I also am finding free time for myself for the first time
in many, many years <maybe 15, considering The Boy>. My
grandfather was a minature and portrait painter by profession
and I think his excellence kind of cast a shadow over my own
exploration as well. I still have a few of his photographs of
Pearl Buck and Madame Chiang when they sat for him. He was
an immigrant from Denmark and was very involved in Chinese-
American relations ... his side interest was Chinese art and he
was awarded a Chinese artist's stamp as they felt he was able
to capture the heart of this art, as few foreigners were able to do.

I also love photography and have not pursued that for many years.
I've found I don't know how to handle my camera anymore. I got
up to the point of developing black and white many years ago
and had some great photographs of musicians, like Jeff Beck,
Jan Hammer, Carlos Santana, Leslie West, etc. I've been offered
good equipment in the years past, as people had confidence in
me ... I had no confidence in myself and refused them. I did
accept the last camera .. now I just have to get used to it again.
I just tried out some of that new 800 self-adjusting film on some
different light and in Mexico of the children and I'm waiting for the
results to see if this will help.

Another interest has been writing, though I think this has been in
part by people's response when I manage to get my thoughts out
from time to time. The problem has been whenever I receive any
compliments or encouragement ... I freeze! I have a copy of *The
Artist's Way* which would help me overcome these barriers if
I took the time to do the exercises ... I had no time at all to do this
at all in the past year, due to the nature of the work I was doing, or
who I was doing it for.

My son has a guitar he never uses anymore ... that's another thing
I'd love to do, is finally learn. I love music more than anything else,
but always was hanging around great musicians and, again, lacked
confidence to really try anything on my own ... though I was
constantly encouraged to try.

So, these are a few things I would like to center on ... I am guilty of
taking on too many things at once and becoming overwhelmed and
giving them all up, so now that I am more aware of my nature (ADD),
I am able to understand methods for overcoming things such as
this that have forever held me back. Forever will now be past. ;o)

I finally visited your web site and was in tears <oh weepy me>. I
can't wait to meet you ... your friendship would certainly be a gift to
me and I know I could learn a lot from you, as well find inspiration.
We have so very many interests in common, I couldn't believe it!

Skating ... have you seen Michelle Kwan's new long program? She
skates to Dante's Prayer by Loreena McKennitt and it's soooooo
beautiful. I was watching again last night .. I'm so glad they're showing
so much skating now .... that's something I _would_ have liked to have
learned, but I have to keep my extremities in good order so I can work,
so I guess I'll have to pass .. ;o)

One more thing ... I too have a flute ... I used to play only when no one
was around. I had it in the trunk of my car all this time and finally dug
it out because of the *theme* song from Titanic. I bought it years ago,
inspired by Jethro Tull. I figured if I got in the pool, stayed underwater
and held my breath as long as I could, I'd develop lungs to play ....
Aqualung ... LOL ... nope. Same problem as with anything else. I need
new pads now, a couple are sticking. Maybe we could find some kid
to teach us!!

Okay ... I have to get back to work, will answer the rest later.

Very very very impressive, Ruthie! I can hardly wait to meet you and
share you with my friends. So -- can we agree that we are going to do
the Pacific Beach Block Party on May 9???? -- I have many friends I want
to bring with me for you to meet -- I told enialle about it too. Maybe
we could all meet for ice cream or something at about 11 and then wander
about and yeah -- I'd love to head down to Mission beach for air hockey
and the roller coaster too!
