Maybe it's the key:  china GFW.

You may need to connect a vpn or anything else to help you ignore the china GFW.

Hiya,

You actually got this to work?  I had been trying to build scribe against versions of thrift on Ubuntu 10.04 and had tons of trouble.  I eventually went back to build against thrift 0.2.0, which obviously is not ideal.  Hm, I will have to try this using your instructions.  Thanks!

This works!!!

I booted a fresh image on amz of ubuntu 12.04, I basically copy pasted
the commands and it worked just fine.

Thanks for such an awesome list of steps. This would probably be a
good wiki article to put on github.

I think is open to everyone, but I would encourage the author to link
it on the wiki.

Thanks again.

So I took what ycavatars wrote and rewrote it as a bash script that works.

I tested this again on a different machine this morning and it worked perfectly.

Notice this line

It will add the env var into your bashrc... change for your environment.

Anyways, hope this helps someone, props again to the original author ycavatars.
