I apologize if steering the thread in the direction of Zotero is
inappropriate. I'll drop this question in, however, in that I have
not had any response on the Zotero thread and it has to do with
migrating from Scribe, an experiment in progress.

In Scribe, I titled all my notes with a date and a phrase (1919 12 12
Baghdad Press). This enabled me to easily call up a list of all my
notes (sans sources) in chronological order regardless of their
source.

In Zotero, my notes come up in chronological order, but grouped under
their parent source. This disables me from producing a diversified
list of notes in chronological order: a crucial element for my
dissertation organization.

Is it possible to view just notes without parent grouping in Zotero
like Scribe? Do I really need to go through the process of printing a
report to do this? I followed the instructions gesturing to this on
the website (producing a report and then changing the extensions
referring to the ChildParent relationship to false, etc.) but had no
luck.

I am sure that for anyone playing with both of these programs, this is
a common problem. Any advice?

Yes, currently reports are the only way to sort notes independently of
sources. You should change the preference first, then create the
report--let me know if that doesn't work and I'll give you more
detailed instructions.

From your post on forums it seemed like you could also sort the
sources by date to view your notes, since you have one note per
source, and the date that begins the note is the same as that of the
source--is that not the case?

There is a ticket for allowing for viewing of notes independently from
sources.

https://www.zotero.org/trac/ticket/672

This ticket will get done a lot faster if more people request this
feature on the forums.

Best,
Elena

Elena,
Thanks for the advice. Unfortunately, I actually have many (many)
notes for just one source quite often, so the note/source title match
will not solve my problem. I have noticed my forum got some response,
I will post a response to this ticket as well. Thanks again. David
