scribd.Document.getDocFromUrl() problems.

I am having issues integrating my web app with Scribd. I am using the getDocFromUrl() method, I keep receiving:

"Document failed to import"

My web server logs show no request for the document URL from scribd. A sample URL is:

https://smartfilebeta.com/api/2.0/path/exchange/789c0dc43b0ec2300c00d0d390ad927f899bc103370089a95bdc3813652814717c3abc17860469b33dbdcceb6dafcffbb67e3dd2db301da78f11204d5027e407960b5f19cf1096f4b320293d47735792ecadb401008daa8e8eaa02458bcaac4e81c25d7ce621cc90d720c81e7f746f2177/docs/test.txt

* The above is a time-limited URL, and thus won't work by the time you try to use it. At the time of my testing though this page _would_ return a chunk of text with the proper Content-Type: text/plain.

I have tried other URLs on the web, namely:

https://lib.store.yahoo.net/lib/paulgraham/onlisp.ps

Which works. So I know everything is correct except the URL or some other issue with my specific set up.

Is there a way to get more information as to why this is failing?

One other tidbit, I have tried the same URL as http:// vs. https:// and always get the same error message. I have also tried a pdf file instead of plain text.

same problems is in my app. i have tried online and offline pdf files as well.
