method.getSettings for all public documents

Is there a way to get info about public documents via the api? I've
tried method.getSettings for several document ids and always get the
"Insufficient permissions to access this document" error - probably
because I am not the owner of the document.

thanks for your fast reply!!
It would be great to be able to access the thumbnail-url, title,
description, tags and the access-key for all public documents, which
are also available in the scribd community. I am the developer of
zootool.com - a bookmark-tool for images, videos, documents and links.
With this basic information I would be able to extend zootool so that
zootool users can save links to their favourite scribd documents from
the scribd community. All this could be done by parsing the url,
extracting the id and sending a request with the given document id to
your api.

I hope this is in some way understandable! My english is far from
perfect!!

Currently this is not possible, but I can see now that it should be.

Hi Jared!

I couldn't really wait for the global getSettings method so I found a
way to get the information I needed by parsing the document's page and
the details page :-) It's pretty quick and dirty but it works.

are the action suggestions? Download, View, and Delete?

The action suggestions are "Open details", "Go to original", "Go to
source". I think it's a little off-topic to explain that in detail,
