before I sign up I was curious about grouping servers.. I run 3 rails applications in ec2 and I want to have a filtered view of the servers in each application.. I don't want to have multiple scout accounts.. just want to log in.. hit a filter button/drop down and see the servers within that application group. . is this possible?
You can create your own groups and then place servers within each.
You'll see servers by group on the account home page, servers
pulldown, and when selecting metrics on a chart.
Additionally, Scout now provides enhanced Rails Monitoring
(https://github.com/scoutapp/scout_rails). The app home page provides
metrics for each of the app servers automatically.

thanks.. I signed up for the trial and noticed the grouping.. question.. where do I configure the rails settings? like what triggers a "slow transaction?"

Slow Transactions must exceed 2 seconds (the UI displays the slowest
captured transaction each minute). Currently the 2 second threshold
isn't adjustable.

are slow transaction traces automatically captured? I hit one of our admin pages that we submit with query strings but I hit it with none (full sweep) and caused it to run for 10k MS.. But I still don't see a slow transaction trace in the scout UI..

The gem sends the slowest trace from the process that reports to
Scout. If your app is served by multiple processes (very likely in
production), there's a chance you won't see a trace for a specific
slow request. For apps that are getting traffic, we've found it's good
enough to get a good sample.
Metrics (just not slow traces) are merged across processes.
