"the woman I live with" is a fairly succesful artist and cartoonist. (In
the art world earning just over £1000 a year from the sale of paintings or
cartoons is
"successful").

We got this computer six months ago so she could make our fortune from
computer graphics work, illustration etc. However while she was used to the
dog and I doing what we were told, the computer did not follow the house
rules and so there was something of a personality clash which the computer
won. As a result I got the computer to myself for a while and Mo stuck to
freehand art, doing it the old fashioned manual way with pastels and paper.

A few days ago someone who knows how to use Photoshop, etc visited and
showed my wife what it could do. Now she is all fired up again and eager to
learn it but it is fighting back.

The computer plus our graphics packages (in the hands of a pixie with a
fiery artistic temperament) are making her life a misery which means the dog
and I are having a pretty miserable time as well.

I wondered if there was anyone out there interested in giving a few
Photoshop lessons to get her started. It would be good if she could hang
around a studio for a few hours finding out what goes on and whether she
would be suited to it .

We live a few miles from the Kincardine Bridge handy for
Alloa/Falkirk/Dunfermline/Stirling/Kinross areas.

Also what of the future - once she learns computer graphics??. Is there work
available for artists with computer graphics skills? What about
straightforward illustration work - not just computer assisted graphics?? Is
work available on a free lance basis .... and does it provide a living
albeit a modest one...??

Any offers or comments welcome....

Thanks. Alistair
