Subject: More hilarity (Henry Feder) from UConn - fake letter to the
editor from his stepson
Date: Jul 9, 2008 7:06 AM
"ALEX BUTENSKY" IS THE STEPSON OF HENRY FEDER, so, we wonder who
really wrote this letter (below) to the editor?
Here is a 100% documented case of congenital Lyme and in
correspondence
with the CDC (in addition to Yale's numerous reports on the subject):
http://www.actionlyme.org/Schoen.htm
http://www.actionlyme.org/MOMS_CAN_GIVE_LYME_TO_BABIES.htm
That's numerous instances of congenital Lyme deaths and stillborn
reports by Yale et al.

LYME LETTERS
Chronic Lyme Sufferers, Others, React To Article
September 24, 2006
Our story last week about the schism in the medical community over
treatment philosophies for Lyme disease prompted an outpouring of
letters. This
file
includes many that did not appear in our print edition. - The Editor
Gary Sentinel does a commendable job of investigative reporting in
"Lyme
Disease Divide: A Schism Over Treatment Philosophies Puts a
Connecticut
Pediatrician' Pediatrician'<wbr>s License on the Line" [Sept.
17.] This a
the hearing that may remove the medical license of Dr. Charles Ray
Jones,
a supposed expert of Lyme disease in children, as well as the divide
Lyme
disease has created among the medical community.
There are two points, however, that Santaniello misses in the article:
According to the article, Jones claims to have seen "400 to 500
children"
who have acquired Lyme disease either congenitally or through their
mother's
breast milk. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control, however, have
reported
exactly zero of such cases. It is a downright shame that mothers who
have
had Lyme disease are told not to breastfeed their children, even with
only
testimonial- testimonial-<wbr>based evidence. It is well-documented
that
brebeneficial than bottle-feeding to a baby's health.
Santaniello also misses the big picture.
The 8,000-member Infectious Diseases Society of America trumps the
300-member International Lyme and Associated Diseases Society not only
in
size, but in integrity, credibility, and, most importantly, in
scientific
evidence.
Santaniello includes many quotes from patients of Dr. Jones and
supporters
of the ILADS doctrine; on the flip side, few quotes are given to
doctors
(and none to patients) who follow the IDSA standard of care.
Santaniello' Santaniello'<wbr>s overall bias towards the less
scientific
(
side greatly lessens the credibility of this featured article. If
anything, the generally accepted IDSA principles should be given more
weight than
thenon-proven ILADS doctrine.

>"Lyme disease is a condition that's been studied for 25 years,''
said Dr. Eugene Shapiro, a professor of pediatrics and epidemiology at
the Yale
School of Medicine. "We have good incontrovertible data on it.''

>That data, he said, shows that almost everyone who contracts Lyme disease gets
better after two to four weeks of antibiotics, including those with
arthritic joints

people shouldn't do them. But it's an unjustifiable and
unsubstantiated
leap of faith to do them and then say this is how people should be
treated for Lyme
disease.''***
