My ubuntu version is old (11.04, and I don't want to risk breaking my OS
updating it), so I am more in favor of keeping at least the version in the
most recent LTS. I also think ubuntu is one of the distro moving fast. I'm
not sure what versions of numpy is packaged for debian and OpenSuse, but it
might be worth checking that too.
