Two eloquent phrases characterise a group that practices scientific temper:
internal pluralism and external receptivity - Amartya Sen

Unless the government changes its education policy the country has no future. Now education is in the hands of the unscrupulous who propagate miracles, superstitions, and blind beliefs. Science is only the knowledge of nature and Universe. Unless our people are educated in Scientific Temper we have no hope. The gullible will go after miracle men for an early solution to their mundane problems. However much we expose the godmen, the credulous will go to the next one who has yet to be exposed - B. Premamand

It is better to be an atheist than a superstitious fool. Let us not, therefore, divide humanity into different sects, groups, faiths or nations, thus creating blocks among men that lead to dissention, discord and strife. Instead, let us discard all religious labels and orthodox terminology marked by rigidity and an inflexible attitude - Vivekananda
